THEME INSTALLATION TUTORIAL!

Finding and installing a theme usually isn't the best part of setting up a forum. It is difficult for a lot of people, so I thought I would write a short little tutorial to give everyone a hand.

To start, you need to find a theme you like. There are many places if you search on google, but one of the best and most convenient is probably the official MyBB website. Browse through them and find one you like. We are running MyBB 1.6.5 for reference. Themes from earlier versions may sometimes work, but may also have minor issues here and there. If you'd like to use an older theme and you find something not working, feel free to ask in the support forum and we'll try to give you a hand.

When you decide on one, click the "Download" link, then the "I Agree" button on the license agreement. It will download a .zip file to your desktop (or location of choice). Once you extract this file, you will see a folder filled with images the theme uses, as well as an xml file containing the theme's code.

After that step is taken care of, proceed to your AdminCP. Click the tab at the top called "Themes & Styles", then the sub-tab "Import a Theme". Open your xml file with notepad, copy all the contents, then paste it in the box that says "Check Your Theme" and click the "Check My Theme" button. In order to keep IcyBoards safe, we apply a strict filter to all templates uploaded and edited. This helps prevent users from inserting malicious code which could reveal passwords, cause server instability, and even stop IcyBoards from working all together

Next is the actual importing of your theme. Use the browse button to locate the xml file. You can a name if you want in the "New Name" box, otherwise it will use the name given by the theme creator. Also make sure you check all 3 of the check boxes at the bottom. When you're done, click "Import Theme.
